'Expired': an explanation the owner says the adjuster gave — not in the letter; she says it was bought and given the same day

Per the owner, the adjuster also said the product was expired. The written denial does not say so. The owner says the treat was bought at Hollywood Feed and given to Fergie the same day, and was not expired. Every US Pup Ice pack prints a best-before date and batch code in a box on the back. The only date visible in any public image is on Ethical Pet's own June 2023 product photographs — 12/25/2025, batch IMG23026 — a stock photo of the launch run, not Fergie's bag. Travelers has not said what the remark was based on, and per VEG's medical director did not call the hospital. What would settle it: the Hollywood Feed receipt, the best-before box on the bag, and Hollywood Feed's incident report on the stock it pulled. And if an authorised retailer had sold a past-date treat, that would be a question for the seller and the distributor, not a reason to blame the buyer.
