What the public record says about Ethical Products, Inc.

Wayback CDX shows no 'product safety', 'recall' or 'quality' page has ever existed on ethicalpet.com; no ASTM, third-party lab, or written testing standard appears anywhere on the site; the FAQ is six retailer questions; the only complaint mechanism is a one-time 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' refund form emailed to cs@ethicalpet.com ('All refund requests are subject to review'). No injury/claims or insurer contact is published.

AllAmerican.org obtained company email confirming Chinese manufacture and found no country-of-origin on ethicalpet.com product pages. Panjiva shows 1,579 US import shipments since 2007, mostly from Chinese shippers. Pup Ice country of origin not established anywhere. The Pup Ice US pack itself says 'Made in Vietnam'; an Indian listing of the same brand says China.

Jonathan Zelinger (President), Gila Zelinger, VP/CIO Joseph Rosenberg, VP Ops Frank Lucente, VP Sales John Thaman (May 2026), CFO Danny Sklar (data-broker), customer-service manager Mary Jane Sandee (BBB). No PE ownership found.

The company's published mission promises that 'All products must live up to the claims we make and be safe for use by pets' and that it 'will unconditionally refund any purchase made by consumers.' Its actual refund form is a one-time, receipt-required, 'subject to review' check for 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' products only, and the Fergie appeal went unanswered.

Ethical Products is not BBB accredited. The single customer review on its BBB profile (Craig G, 2025-08-12) reports a chew that broke apart and no response to calls or emails over two weeks.

Three independent accounts a decade apart: 2015 cat-toy death complaint (reply only after 6 days / BBB filing), 2025 BBB review (no reply in two weeks), and the 2026 Fergie appeal (no reply from Ethical Pet as of 2026-09-24).

Customer Satisfaction Refund Form tells owners a dog that destroys a guaranteed toy is a 'beast' (<1% of dogs); one-time prepaid card; requires mailing the destroyed toy to Bloomfield. Bam-Bones, non-Extreme Skinneeez, Dura-Fused, treats and Pup Ice are not on the form.

Lanham Act false-advertising suit (2:21-cv-12437) alleging Ethical 'falsely represented that its Nothin' Chews do not contain rawhide, when they in fact do' and that 'superior digestibility' claims were untrue; sought cancellation of Ethical's mark. Court denied Ethical's motion to bifurcate discovery 2021-12-02. Final disposition not retrieved. Stipulation of dismissal filed 2022-07-06; terminated 2022-07-07; terms not public.

One of the mass Section 301 refund suits (1:20-cv-02700, assigned to the three-judge panel, still open) and a January 2026 filing (1:26-cv-00138, likely IEEPA tariffs). Corroborates heavy reliance on Chinese manufacturing. Fashion Pet ran a '50% off pre-tariff pricing' clearance to retailers in Sept 2025.

Best Bully Sticks' maker alleged Ethical hired its ex-VP of Sales to run a competing single-ingredient chews line using its pricing files. The court's order quotes a Jonathan Zelinger email that the hire 'knows where their Achilles heel is and where they are vulnerable and that's what we will be going after with his guidance', and said the hiring conduct 'raises serious questions'. The court declined to issue an injunction; the case ended by stipulated dismissal on 2020-09-24.

Jolly Pets' maker alleged willful infringement of U.S. Pat. 9,681,643 after two notice letters; dismissed with prejudice 2018-02-26 without an answer (settlement inferred).

Artist alleged Ethical's last royalty was Feb 2008, that it sent a late termination letter, kept selling, and some products lacked the copyright notice (blamed on a 'factory error'). Summary judgment denied 2012-07-31 on a fact issue; terminated 2012-09-07.
